German premiere of ''A Fairly Tale'', a new piece by Marcela Lucatelli for the acclaimed vocal group Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart. With a vocal range from coloratura soprano via countertenor to black bass, the ensemble examines new sounds vocal techniques, as well as forms of vocal articulation. Music theatre and interdisciplinary work with electronics, video, visual art and literature are as much a part of this research concept as a confrontation with elements of early and modern music. ''A Fairly Tale'' is a performatic vocal piece composed specially for Neue Vocalsolisten by a composer who lives more than believes. Musical material is set in motion, pushed, intertwined - unlocking a hidden souvenir of what it has never been. Fairly well. Death is the fairest thing in the world. Elegantly raw, fairly fine. But fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that beauty can't be beaten. Black gloves, noise, choreography. A scent of political signs. After all, if you ever find yourself in the wrong story, you can't just leave.
